A small village with much to discover

Visit Vilanova de la Sal

Our village is small but full of history and charm. Its origins lie in the old nucleus of Privà, founded in the 12th century. Today, you can still visit the remains of the Church of Santa Margarida de Privà, including its main nave and part of the old spiral staircase of the bell tower.

Walking through the village center, you’ll discover the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria de Vilanova, where for many years the remains of the Counts of Urgell were kept. We also recommend visiting the remains of the Chapel of Sant Miquel. You can explore these sites on your own or join one of the guided tours organized by the La Foradada Cultural Association:

The salt flats of Vilanova

Did you know that our village has “de la Sal” in its name because of the natural salt flats we have? These salt flats were commercially exploited from the Middle Ages until 1989, and today they shine again as a tourist attraction.

You can take a guided tour to learn how salt is formed, how it was extracted, and even taste the local fleur de sel. An ideal experience for both adults and children, connecting you with the natural and historical heritage of the area.

The “beach” of Vilanova

Just 10 minutes by car, you’ll find one of the most refreshing spots in the area: the beach of the Camarasa reservoir. This peaceful area, surrounded by nature, resembles a beach ideal for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying tranquility.

Just follow the LV-9045 road to the reservoir and, just before arriving, take a gravel path on the right. The final stretch is done on foot or by bike.

Hike with stunning views over La Noguera

Montalegre Hermitage

From the door of the apartments, you can start a route to the Montalegre Hermitage, located on top of the Montroig range. It’s about a 50-minute walk with steep climbs, but the effort is well worth it: from the top you’ll have spectacular views of Vilanova, the Balaguer plain, and the Camarasa reservoir.

Also known as the Noguera viewpoint, this is one of the most beautiful places in the area. If you want more details about the route, visit: naturalocal.net

The Balconet of Santa Linya and Sant Pere de Queralt

Another must-do hike! From the village of Santa Linya (10 minutes from Cal Ribero), you can take a 4.5 km route to the Balconet, a spectacular natural viewpoint hanging over the Montsec valley.

If you feel like continuing, you can go on to the Romanesque hermitage of Sant Pere de Queralt, located on a rocky spur. This route is of high difficulty, but the arrival is impressive.
